Maize
is Europe's second largest crop grown by area of agricultural land. Primarily
grown in France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania and Ukraine. It
favours a warm climate, ample sunlight and well distributed rainfall. Maize
is differentiated into two types:
1) Fodder Maize - grown for animal feed
2) Grain Maize - grown primarily for human consumption, and an increased
use in the production of biofuels.
